BROOKSHIRE, JIMMIE - Age 81, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully on April 20 in Nashville, Tennessee. Originally from Vonore, Tennessee, Jimmie, or simply "GrandDaddy" as he loved to be called- was a kind and quiet man, who enjoyed spending time with his family, his beloved cats, and most especially his precious grandson, Matthew. He was a Korean War veteran and a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church. He worked many decades in the home building trade in the Knoxville area. He gave generously of his time as a little league coach and mentor to others. Many still enjoy the fruits of his labors. Jimmy was preceded in death by his son Darris Brookshire. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Ruby McCarter Brookshire; daughter Connie Brookshire and husband Devin Wells of Nashville; son Randy Brookshire; son Danny and wife Jaynie Brookshire; and the light of his life, grandson Matthew Brookshire Wells. Also survived by sister Nancy and husband George Murr of Vonore; sister Etta and husband John Dailey of Atlanta; brother Glen and wife Ann Brookshire of Michigan; sister Pat and husband Tom McLemore, of Ocean Springs, MS and many nieces and nephews.
