Ralph Morrison Smith

SMITH, RALPH MORRISON - age 69, passed away Sunday, January 17th, 2010, in Gainesville, Florida. Mr. Smith was born on a dairy farm in Greensboro, North Carolina on March 17, 1940. He started building houses in Kingston with his Uncle Pete to raise his family during the 1960's. After his divorce in 1971, he moved to Knoxville where he met his second wife and her daughter, Debbie. He worked as a locksmith and maintenance personnel at Wood Properties until retirement. He then returned to Greensboro to care for his aging father. After his death, he made his home in Amsterdam, Ohio during the summer and Jacksonville, Florida with his sister in the winter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Sue. He is survived by his 3 children, Steven of Columbus, Ohio, Carol of Bethany, Illinois, and Charlie of Marysville, Ohio; one step daughter, Debbie; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother, George and sister, Marie. Family and friends will meet Saturday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel and proceed to Edgewood Cemetery for a 11:00 A.M. graveside service with Dr. Russell Cook officiating.
