SANDERS, ROBERT (BOB) GUY - age 81, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2012. Born on June 28, 1931 in Springfield, Tennessee to Marie and Robert Guy Sanders, Sr. He is survived by wife, Martha (Marty) Kay Sanders; son, August Guy Sanders and wife Deborah Neisel-Sanders, of Lincoln, MA; daughter, Marylyn Roberts; son-in-law Reverend, Donald Roberts of Newburyport, MA; granddaughters, Cory and Morgan; grandson, Park; stepdaughter, Amy Weller and husband Tom Weller; step-granddaughters, Delaney, Devon and Zoe Weller, all of Knoxville, TN. In 1944 he moved to Oak Ridge during WW II where he graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1949. During high school years, he was active in track and won many track meets in the 880 yard run and the mile relay. In 1949 he received a track scholarship to the University of Tennessee and graduated in 1954 with a B. S. degree in Industrial Management. In 1954 he was commissioned into the USAF, attended flight school and then became a resident auditor on several air bases in the USA, England and Italy. After the USAF he worked for the inspector general USDA in GA, TN and LA. He then worked for TVA in Knoxville setting up an audit group to evaluate computer systems. Retired from TVA as a civil servant in July 1986. In 1987 went to work for Martin Marietta in Oak Ridge as a Sr. Computing Consultant and retired in August 1993. He and wife, Marty, traveled by RV extensively throughout the USA and Canada. They visited all contiguous 48 states at least once and 8 of 10 Canadian provinces. Bob started the Knoxville Area Corvair Club 1981. He was an avid model railroader since 1947. In later years he belonged to model railroad clubs in TN and TX. A Memorial service will be held at Church of the Savior, 934 North Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, TN, on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 6:30pm.
