HANLON, ROBERT JOSEPH (R.J. - age 27, of Knoxville, formerly of Northborough, MA passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012 in Knoxville. R.J. was a member of Farragut Christian Church. He was an insurance agent with Answer Financial and a personal trainer. R.J. enjoyed hockey, baseball, hiking in the Smokies, tailgating at U.T. football games with his friends, and the New England Patriots. He was a championship billiards player, a member of the billiards league, and a master of Scrabble. Childhood summers were spent on his grandparent's farm where he learned to swim, drive a tractor and the old farm truck, and hunt the local wildlife. As his grandpa and grandma tell "The world stopped when he arrived". His recent plans were to re-locate to Chicago to continue a career in insurance and pursue a business degree. R.J. is survived by his mother and step father, Cynthia and Stephen Wolpert of Highland Park, IL; father, John Hanlon of Berlin, MA; step brothers, Christopher and Scott Wolpert; step sister, Stacey Hanlon; grandparents, James and Janice McDowell of Gatewood, MO; "Uncle" Steve and Aunt Katie McDowell, special cousins, Adrienne and Natalie McDowell; nieces, Claire and Clementine Wolpert; nephew, Andrew Wolpert and a host of other aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:45 p.m. on Thursday at the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel followed by funeral services at 7:00 p.m. Graveside services and interment will be in Highland Park, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Humane Society in honor of R.J. and his beloved childhood pet, Nikki.
