Roger Potter Obituary

POTTER, ROGER FRANKLIN - age 72, of Knoxville, passed away on the afternoon of Thursday June 17th, 2010. Roger took his last breaths at home after suffering for almost 5 weeks with inoperable brain tumors. He was born in Butler, TN. on January 31st, 1938. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Orpha Potter. Roger adored his mother and always visited "home" when he could. He belonged to Elk Mills Christian Church. He married, Pat Potter in 1964. He was dedicated to his loving wife, and kids. Roger was employed, by Standard Knitting Mills, for 30 years. Roger is survived by: wife, Pat Potter; children, Lisa Cruze, Roger Allen Potter, Kim and husband, Billy Thomas, Michael and wife, Lori Potter; grandchildren, Nicole Starcher, Dustin Cruze, Rachel Osborne and husband, Will, Megan Thomas, Jake Potter, and Logan Potter; great-grandchildren, Austin Deese, Aiden Starcher and Aubrey Thomas; brothers-in-law, David Knight and wife, Paulette, Dick Brown and wife, Carrie, Paul Hall and wife, Sis; sister-in-law, Janie Gross; and many dear cousins. Special thanks to Betty Roy, Chlotia Bordes, and Reece Parks for giving your attentive and loving care. Also, thanks to Parkwest Hospital (doctors, nurses and staff) as well as Amedisys Hospice Care staff. The family would like to express its deepest gratitude for all the prayers and support from extended family and friends. Roger will remain in the family's hearts as the special caretaker, of his son "Brother" Potter. Roger was a moral, faithful husband and father who will be deeply missed by all that knew him. The family and friends will gather at the west Adair entrance to Lynnhurst Cemetery at 12:45 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2010, for a 1:00 p.m. graveside service with Reverend Will Runyon officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. Online condolences may be extended at www.rosemortuary.com.
