WOLFE, BEVERLY UPSHAW - 96, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Anne Wolfe Nance, on March 2, 2014, seventeen days prior to her 97th birthday. Prior to living with her daughter, she was a resident of Crescent Heights in Concord, NC. She was born on March 19, 1917 in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the late William David Upshaw and Margaret Beverly Upshaw. She spent the next years in Asheville, North Carolina and then moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, where she graduated from Knoxville High School in 1935. Beverly attended Shorter College, Rome, GA and the University of Tennessee where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She also attended Cecil's Business College, Asheville, NC. She worked in the County Agent's office, Thomasville, GA, for the TVA in Knoxville, TN and then for the Arlington County, VA School System. After retiring, she went back to college and just before her 60th birthday, graduated from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA with a BIS degree. She married Singleton Belt Wolfe on March 14, 1942. They spent their 57 years of married life in Nashville, TN, Arlington, VA and Knoxville, TN. She was predeceased by her husband, son Richard Wolfe and sister Margaret Upshaw Whitworth. Beverly is survived by daughter Anne Nance (James), Albemarle, NC, son Thomas (Rosemary), Bristow, VA; two grandchildren, Amie Koporc (Randy) and James Nance (Bridget) as well as five great-grandchildren, Nathan and Madison Nance, Carson, Cameron and Ryan Koporc. Beverly's passion was genealogy. She published a history of the Jacob Wolfe Family and was working on a second publication on the Beverly Family of Georgia at the time of her death. She was a charter member and past president of the Tennessee Valley Machine Knitters Club. Beverly was honored with 3 Membership Recognition Pins from three different Methodist churches for contributions to the women's groups in those churches. She was recognized by the Jacob Wolfe Family Association for her contributions as a member of the Board of Directors, Historian, and editor of the family history which was revised and republished in 1996. Mrs. Wolfe was a member of First United Methodist Church of Knoxville, TN, until her death. Committal services for Mrs. Wolfe will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2014, 11:00 a.m., at the Highland Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, in Knoxville, TN, with the Rev. Dan Moore and the Rev. Tom Seay officiating. Memorials may be made to The University of Tennessee, UT Foundation, Singleton B.
