CARSON, BOBBIE JEAN "WEST" - age 87, a lifelong resident of Coalfield, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014, at Methodist Medical Center, in Oak Ridge. Mrs. Carson was born October 13, 1926, in Morgan County. She was a lifelong resident. She was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Bobbie was a faithful Christian and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Coalfield. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and she enjoyed outdoor activities. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry West and Reba Brummett West; by her husband, Robert Carson; by a son, Stephen Jerry Carson; by brothers, Jerry West, Jr., Harold West and wife, Pearl, Clyde West and wife, Wilma and Charles William West and wife, Josephine; by sisters, Barbara Monday and husband, Joe, and Mary Kerr and husband, Melvin; and by a great-great grandchild, Aubree Marie Carson. She is survived by two sons, Sammie Carson and wife, Jackie, of Coalfield, and James Carson of Knoxville; by grandchildren, Sam Carson, Jr., Kim Carson Smith and husband, Stacy, Chris Carson and fiancée, Mary Ann, Matthew Carson and wife, Dana, Stephanie Maxie and husband, Brian, Scarlett Farmer and husband, Ethan, and Joshua McGill; by ten great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Bobbie Jean is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 29, 2014, between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 p.m., at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 7:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Ronald Guthrie officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held Sunday, March 30, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at Estes Cemetery in Coalfield.
