DAVIS, KATHLYN BORING (NAN-NAN) - age 96, a lifelong resident of the Concord/Farragut community, flew to the arms of Jesus, on Saturday, April 5, 2014. Kathlyn grew up a member of the Boring clan, whose roots have been established in the Concord/Farragut community as early as 1844. She was a graduate of Farragut High School class of 1936 and went on to become the first secretary at Farragut High School. Later, she and her husband opened Farragut Dry Cleaners around 1946. She also worked as a secretary for the Food Technology Department at the University of Tennessee Agricultural Campus for several years. She was a Christian and a member of Faith Fellowship Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by parents, Charles A. and Hallie Hackney Boring; sister, Dixie Boring Cox; brothers, Ray (Buddy) Boring and Donald Ross Boring; and grandson Randy McKinney. Left to mourn her passing are son, C. Reed (Karen) Davis of Farragut; daughter, Lynn Dell McKinney of Farragut and George McKinney, Bryant, Arkansas; brother, Ben A. Boring of Farragut; grandchildren Kelly Davis (Richard) Duisen, Whitney (Danny) Goodrich, Brandon Davis and Mark (Julie) McKinney all of Farragut; great grandchildren, Leah Jones Morris, Jessica Jones, Drew Duisen, Jordan and Alex McKinney, Booker and Bennet McKinney and soon to arrive, Leighton Ainsley Goodrich. She also leaves numerous beloved nieces, nephews and family members. Nan-Nan served as a 'special assistant' to coach Pat Head Summitt as she made every attempt not to miss a Lady Vol's game. She prided herself over the years in keeping the Boring hill manicured with her little blue tractor and has now handed the torch to her brother to carry on the labor of love. The family has been blessed with longtime dear friends Dr. Charlie Barnett, and De. Tadhg Hart and the sweet staff at Summit Medical, thank you. The family would also like to extend our thanks to Russ Frazier for his decades of love, support and genuine heart. The lives she touched and the friends who loved her are here in the community she loved and cherished as a special place to be born and raised. We will miss her and feel the void she is leaving in our hearts, yet we rejoice that she is spending eternity at the feet of our Lord and Savior. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. Concord Masonic Cemetery, Dr. Jeff Sledge and Dr. Don Acton officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the .
