TAYLOR, CHARLES WALTER, JR. - 78, of Knoxville, Tennessee, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014. He was born in Savannah, Georgia, son of Charles Walter Taylor, Sr. and Mary Jones Taylor. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Roba Taylor. He attended Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Georgia, and served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed a lengthy, successful career in sales management, and was an avid horseman and boater. Charles was a strong, devoted Christian dedicated to his family. A cradle Episcopalian, he attended the Episcopal Church of the Ascension. He leaves his children, Charles Walter Taylor, III (Chuck) and his wife, Laura Thompson Taylor of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Carolyn Taylor Kelsey and her husband, Roger Dale Kelsey of Thompson's Station, Tennessee, and James Richard Taylor and his wife, Courtney Hembree Taylor of Signal Mountain, Tennessee. Also, his grandchildren, Charles William Taylor, Mary Elizabeth Kelsey, Anna Finley Taylor, Aaron Taylor Kelsey, Sidney Jane Taylor, Avery Rose Taylor; sisters, Jane Taylor Torrance of Savannah, Georgia, Martha Taylor Shackleford of Petersburg, Virginia, and Savannah, Georgia; nieces, Janet Torrance Godfrey of Savannah, Georgia, Martha Dabney Shackleford of Richmond, Virginia; and nephew, Gordon Taylor Shackleford of Petersburg, Virginia. A memorial service will be conducted on Friday, May 16, 2014, at 12:00 noon at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 800 S. Northshore Drive, Knoxville, officiated by the Reverend Doctor Howard J. Hess. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Episcopal Church of the Ascension or the Tennessee Chapter. Arrangements by Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
