HOLLAND, WILLIAM EDWIN (BILL), SR. - age 91, of Knoxville, went home to be with the Lord on May 19, 2014. Bill was born in Atlanta, GA and moved to Knoxville when he was seven. He graduated from Rule High School and attended the University of Tennessee. Bill's professional career consisted of work with the United States Postal Service, Civil Service Commission and the Department of Housing and Urban Development where he retired after 37 years of government service. Bill served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII with the B-26 Marauders, European Theater of Operations, serving in seven countries. Bill was an ordained deacon and most recently a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his first wife, Micky Holland; parents, Aaron and Elizabeth Holland; brothers, Chuck Holland and Harold Holland. Survivors: loving wife of 33 years, Peggy Holland; blended family children, daughters, Diane Steelman, Sandy (Karl) Farmer, Pam (Ron) Neal, Jan Morris; sons, Bill Jr. (Deb) Holland, Steve (Karen) Frost, Andy (Wanda) Frost; many loving grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Funeral service 2:00p.m. Thursday at Beaver Dam Baptist Church with Dr. Alan Price and Dr. C. Glenn Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, with full military honors presented by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Stevens Mortuary at Oglewood Ave. at Broadway is serving the family of Mr. Holland.
