SAMS, IDABEL DAVIS - age 102, of Loudon, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014. She was a member of the Community Church at Tellico Village. As one of the first residents to live at The Neighborhood, she was eager to help newcomers get settled in, as well as mixing with others during social events and in her spare time, she enjoyed playing games, working puzzles, playing piano, and making dolls for the children's ministries of the Kiwanis Club of Tellico Village. Born and raised in Knoxville, she was a graduate of the Old Knoxville High School. She was married to her husband Oscar for 66 years and together they resided in New York, Chicago, and retired to Powell, Tennessee. During her younger years, she enjoyed working with the Brownie Scouts and the various PTA's where her daughters were in school. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred S. and Bertha (Irwin) Davis; husband, Oscar E. Sams, daughter, Martha Sams Bach; brothers, William, Robert, Thomas, Charles, and Wesley Davis; sisters, Maude Burnett and Bonnie Janeway; grandson, Kurt Nicholson; great grandson, Kurt and son-in-law, James L. Nicholson. Survivors include daughter, Helen (Sams) Nicholson, Loudon; grandsons, Jon (Ann) Nicholson, Eric Nicholson, Christopher Bach, Jonathan Bach; granddaughter, Pamela Bach; great grandchildren, Lianne and Haley Nicholson, Sam Nicholson, Emma, Alyssa, Logan Bach, Kale, Gabe and Benjamin Bach; son-in-law, Fred Bach; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services honoring and remembering Idabel Sams will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 28th, at the Community Church of Tellico Village, Rev. Rhonda Blevins officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the Narthex. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Sams may be made to the music department of the Church or to the Loudon County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity, 308 Mialaquo Place, Loudon, TN 37774. For those who wish to view, the family will receive friends 9:00 - 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 27th, at McGill-Karnes Funeral Home, 406 Wharf St., Loudon, with a committal service to follow at 11:30 at Greenwood Cemetery, 3500 Tazewell Pike, Knoxville, with Rev.
