CARDEN, SHIRLEY - age 71, of Powell, passed away at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. Shirley was born on July 23, 1942 in Anderson County, Tennessee to the late Dewey James and Opal Lamb Lovely. She attended Edgemoor Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, reading, playing bingo, and spending time with her family and her friends. In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Glnnth "Preach" Carden; her son, Darrell Carden; and her brothers, Marshall Lovely and his wife, Verna, and Ronald Lovely and his wife Jo Ann. Survivors: daughter, Tammy Carden, New Bern, NC; daughter-in-law, Kathy Carden, New Bern, NC; grandchildren, Mitchell and Haley Carden, Indiana; brothers, Owen Lovely and wife, Betty Jo, Alabama, J.C. Lovely and wife, Wanda, Caryville, Donald Lovely and wife, Fleda, Clinton, Ray Lovely and wife, Karen, Greeneville; sisters, Dollie Milstead, Alabama, Virley Hancock and husband, Cline, Lenoir City, Sue Barnes and Tom Denson, Powell, Pat Hashbarger and husband, David, Clinton; special friend, Dennis Byrd, Clinton; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation, 5:00 p,m, -7:00 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2014 at Hatmaker Funeral Home. Funeral service, 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2014 at Hatmaker Funeral Home, with Rev. Rick Miller officiating. Interment, family and friends will meet at Hatmaker Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 to go in procession to the Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake City, TN for a 10:00 a.m. graveside service.
