BATES, LAURA ELIZABETH HALL - age 92, of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Courtyard Briarcliff after suffering from her 2nd stroke. She was a longtime faithful and active member of McMahan Baptist Church, Sevierville, TN. Each morning as she began her day, she would look out her window and say "oh what a beautiful day for Jesus to come, he very well could". She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She and husband, Don, owned/operated Forge Motor Company and Lib and Don's Antiques in Pigeon Forge, TN up until retirement. Preceded in death by parents, Von and Laura Jane Cunningham; 11 brothers and sisters, husbands Bill Hall and Donald Bates and step daughter, Arminta Bates. Survived by daughter, Brenda Griffith and husband Bill; son, Frank Hall and wife Beverly; step daughters, Madonna Lewelling, Beverly Glaspie and husband Larry; grandchildren, Natalie Hall, Donnie Hall and wife Allison, Jeff and wife Jodie, Matthew, Brandon and wife Kim Glaspie; 5 great grandchildren; several nieces nephews and longtime friend Mamie Webber. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the wonderful, loving care to her caregivers, Pat Emmill, Vickie Caylor, Clem McDaniels, Becky Kennedy and the staff/caregivers at Courtyard Briarcliff. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Gideons International P.O Box 429 Seymour, TN 37865, or any charitable organization of your choice in her memory. Family and friends will meet at Asbury Cemetery Asbury Drive, Knoxville, TN Saturday 11:00 AM for graveside services with lifelong friend Reverend Ray Williams officiating.
