CLABO, DARRIS BRENT - age 58, of Sevierville, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014. Darris was a member of Valley View Baptist Church, where he taught an adult Sunday school class. He was employed by the Great Smoky Mountain National Park as trail maintenance supervisor of the Tennessee side. Darris enjoyed sports, especially playing golf and baseball. He played baseball in high school, at Hiwassee College and later with the Kodak Reds, an over age 30 traveling team. He enjoyed working with young people, both at church and with the park service. He was a devoted fan of the Pigeon Forge High School Tigers and the Wearwood Elementary Wildcats. Darris was a wonderful person who will be greatly missed by his family, friends, co-workers, and community. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Lora Clabo, Walter and Alice Hatcher; brother-in-law, Randy Myers; father-in-law, Rev. Herbert Etherton. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Quilliams Clabo; son, Brian Quilliams; granddaughter, Sarah Quilliams; parents, Ben and Charlotte ClaboBrothers and sisters-in-law, Curtis and Pansy Clabo, Doyle and Dora Clabo; sister, Elaine Myers; mother-in-law, Cora Etherton; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marie and David Newsome, Debbie and Mike Fabry, Susie and Tony Ownby; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Glynis Etherton; nephews, Benjamin Clabo (Stephani), Richard Clabo (Kandace), John Myers, Blake Myers, Davy Newsome, Mark Ownby (Carletta), Randy Penny; nieces, Rachel and Sarah Clabo, Katie Myers, Kiesha Bannenberg (Ben), Ashley Ownby, Samantha Etherton; great nieces, Adeline and Gwendolyn Clabo, Taylor Penny, Hayle Bannenberg, Brandy Samuels; great nephews, Isaac Clabo and Zack Newsome. The family would like to thank UT Hospice, especially Carolyn Wear and Florence Hayden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Valley View Baptist Church Building Fund or Valley View Baptist Church Education Fund, 3639 Valley View Rd, Sevierville, TN 37862. The family will receive friends 4:00 p.m. - 6:45 p.m., Friday, at Valley View Baptist Church with funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Pastor Preston Joslin will officiate.
