MILLER, JAMES RICHARD SR. - age 71 of Sevierville passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014 surrounded by his family at home. He was born April 6, 1943 in Danville, KY where he graduated from Danville High School and Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY. Mr. Miller served three years as an officer in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired from Consolidated Freightways after a 32 year career in management and was part owner of Home Cents Furniture in Sevierville. Mr. Miller was a member of First Baptist Church of Sevierville and the American Legion Post #104 where he served as Commander, Adjutant, and member of the Honor Guard. His faith and service to his country were very important to him. His hobbies included model railroading and following Kentucky sports. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father, James Jackson Miller and mother, Kathleen Stone Miller. His survivors include: loving wife of almost 46 years: Theresa Marshall Miller; son: Dr. James Richard Miller Jr., and wife Barbara of Belmont, MA; daughter: Kerri M. Bonner and husband Eric of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren: Steven and Rachel Miller, Grant and Lydia Bonner; brother: Charles R. Miller and wife Pattie; special nieces: Beth Quadraccia and Christin Miller In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Legion Post #104, P.O. Box 4242, Sevierville, TN 37864 or First Baptist Church Building Fund, 317 Parkway, Sevierville, TN 37862. The family will receive friends 4:30 - 6:30 PM Thursday in the Chapel of First Baptist Church, Sevierville with funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM officiated by Rev. Dan Spencer. Interment 10:00 AM Friday in Middle Creek Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post #104. Pallbearers include Ray McPeek, Roger Vinson, Don Talbert, John Pettus, Paul Parrott, and Howard Kingsbury. Honorary pallbearers include members of the American Legion Post #104.
