SMITH, WYNONA GRACE, age 92, of Farragut, formerly of Portales, New Mexico and Baltimore, MD, went to be with her Lord on Sunday evening, July 20, 2014 at Ben Atchley State Veteran Home. She was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church. Wynona was a veteran of World War II serving with the U S Navy from 1943 to 1946. She met her future husband, William E. Smith when they were both assigned to Pasco Naval Air Station in Washington. After the war, they made their home in Baltimore, MD. She was retired from Bendix Field Engineering in Columbia, MD. Wynona was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an award-winning quilter and made many treasured quilts for her family. In 2006 Wynona was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William E. Smith. Wynona is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Sally Smith of Farragut; grandchildren, Amy Rainwater, husband, Michael and their children, Kyle and Emily of Knoxville; Jill Thomas, husband Chad and their children, Brady, Zachary, Colby, and Lucy Mae of Cookeville. A celebration of Wynona's life will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, July 24th in the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Graveside services will full military honors will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the East Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery located at Lyons View. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the loving care Wynona received at River Oaks Place in Lenoir City and at Ben Atchley State Veteran's Home.
