BIVENS, DELBERT - age 83, of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He retired from Martin Marietta K-25 in October 1994. Delbert was in the Civil Air Patrol for many years and was a volunteer for the Empty Pantry Fund. Preceded in death by parents, Hamp and Oda Bivens; brothers, Hubert and Lester Bivens. Survivors include wife of 58 years, Doris Bivens; daughter, Kathy Bivens of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Janet Bivens of Knoxville; grandchildren, Jillian and Benjamin Bivens; siblings, Dixie Matthews of Knoxville, Grady and wife Shirley Bivens of Maryville, and Bertha Ownsby of Maryville; six nephews and five nieces; several great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Blount Memorial Hospital especially 5 East and CCU. Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 10, 2014, at Smith Trinity Chapel. Funeral service will be at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Bruce Marston and Rev. Greg Long officiating. Family and friends will assemble for interment at 3:00 p.m., Monday, August 11, 2014, at Grandview Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Page officiating.
