DEAN, RHEA W., SR. - age 87, of Knoxville, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2014, at home. He retired from Miller's Department Store after 45 years of service, and was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. Preceded in death by wife, Betty Beeler Dean; parents, Morris H. Dean, Sr. and Ethel Stephens Dean; daughter, Wendy Leigh Dean; and brother, Morris H. Dean, Jr. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Tammy Dean; granddaughter, Kari Dean; brother and sister-in-law, Harry S. and Virginia Dean; several nieces and nephews; special to the family, Alys Grissom; and beloved dogs, Jessie and Ellie. The family would like to extend special thanks to all of Rhea's caregivers. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, August, 13, 2014, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. The family and friends will meet at 10: 30 a.m., Thursday, August 14, 2014, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel and travel in procession to Lynnhurst Cemetery an 11:00 a.m. graveside service with Rev. Phil Jones officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley (67117 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919).
