SLUTZKER, ALBERT DAVID, M.D., - passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 14, 2014, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Dr. Slutzker was born to Berkeley and Edith Slutzker on September 21, 1954, in Dayton, Ohio. He attended Hiram College where he achieved his bachelor of science degree. Dave received his medical degree from Wright State University in 1983 where he met his future wife, Mary Pat Collins. They moved to Chicago where Dave completed his internal medicine residency and subsequent pulmonary and critical care fellowship. Dave followed his younger brother, Dan, to Knoxville to practice pulmonary medicine at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. At Fort Sanders, Dave served as chief of staff and chairman of the Credentials Committee. Dave was very involved in the lives of his three children, Ellen Christine, Peter Charles, and Juliet Marie. Dave was proud to be one of the founders of the Knoxville Football Club where he also coached for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Berk and Edie. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary Pat; his daughter, Ellen and her fiancé Matt Smith; his son, Pete; and his daughter, Juliet. Dave would also want his dog, Tucker, mentioned. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Finley of Oakwood, Ohio, and her children; his brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Tracy of Knoxville and their children; as well as his father-in-law, Dan Collins of Hudson, Ohio; and Mary Pat's seven brothers and one sister and their families. Donations in Dave's honor can be sent to the , , or the . A service to celebrate Dave's life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014 at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel. The family will greet friends beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the mortuary.
