PIERCE, EVA GILLING - Our little Mom, Grandmother and friend, passed away gracefully on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at NHC Health Care Farragut, TN. She was the wife of the late Howard Huntington Pierce and the daughter of the late Joseph Henery Rodgers and Marie Elizabeth Rodgers. She is preceded in death by son, Earl Peck; grandson, Michael Randall. Survived by her daughter, June Randall Brown and her daughter Alice Fox (Dana); son, David Peck (Shirley); daughter in law, Irene Peck; grandsons, Allan, Jeffrey and Peter Randall and their wives and children; and children of Michael Randall. Eva lived to be 96, she always said that she'd like to make it to 100 - she came pretty close! She lived in the moment and was by turns feisty, blissful, witty and a laugh riot. Eva had been an avid swimmer and hiker well into her 80's. She'd been a long time member of the Appalachian Mountain Club, Sierra Club and Narragansett Bay Hikers Club. Eva was born in Rumford, RI and spent most of her life on or near Narragansett Bay in RI. She loved New England but lived in East Tennessee during the last decade of her life and learned to love it here too! Eva was a great reader and she enjoyed reading the Knoxville News Sentinel because she felt that it informed her about the greater Knoxville Community of which she'd become a part. She appreciated the care that the wonderful staff of NHC gave to her. We owe everyone at NHC a debt of gratitude. Thank you also to everyone at Tennova Turkey Creek and to Larry Click and the staff at Click Funeral Home who were so kind and helpful. A memorial will be held for Eva in the Hampton Inn in downtown Knoxville on Wednesday January 30th at 11:00 a.m.
