HELEN NEAS Obituary

NEAS, HELEN SEATON PETERS - age 1031/2, died on Thursday, September 25, 2014. Helen was born in Ronceverte, West Virginia, on February 24, 1911, to Samuel Werts Peters and Margaret DeBard Peters. Helen moved with her parents, six sisters, and one brother to Knoxville when she was six years old. She out lived all of them. She worked for Lawson McGhee Library for many years. Reading was her favorite activity. She and her family were active members of Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, but after marriage Helen joined St. John's Lutheran Church where her husband was an active member. In 1954 she and her family became charter members of Messiah Lutheran Church in West Knoxville and remained active for many years. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-two years, Charles Urban Neas in 1998; her son, Charles Samuel Neas in 2005; and her identical twin sister and best friend for 102 years, Louise Peters Kaderly in 2013. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Neas Cole; son-in-law, John William Cole II; grandsons, David Charles Cole and John William Cole III and his wife Christina Feller Cole; great granddaughters, Jessica McKenzie Cole, and Jordan Cole Mason and her husband, Joseph Christian Mason; great grandsons, John William Cole IV and Patrick Alan Cole; granddaughter, Samantha Castings Neas; daughter-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Castings Neas; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank all of the 5th floor staff of Shannondale Healthcare in Knoxville for their loving care. Following a private interment service in Highland Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, a memorial service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Messiah Lutheran Church officiated by Pastor Pauline Farrington-Pezzino and Pastor Eric Murray. The family will greet friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be extended at www.rosemortuary.com. Arrangements by Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.

So sorry for your loss of such a special person. I have very fond memories of her. I enjoyed working with her, as did my mother, La Vada Grissom. She was sweet, kind, compassionate, and funny. I treasure her memory.
