Sara and family,
I was sad to learn of Jack's passing. I worked with Jack at The Knoxville Journal. I am happy that Jack lived a life full of wonderful memories. I know he loved his family and many friends. He always had a smile on his face as he passed my desk. He will be missed by so many. I am honored to have known Jack in this life.

Dear Sara: As I'm sure you know, everyone loved Jack. Count me in that multitude. I first met him as a UT student taking photojournalism. He was the GTA for the class. He was so patient, kind and funny. Later, my husband hired him to do some photography for his company. That was a fun day spent on the lake, and Jack's work was impeccable. I saw another side of him through his friend, Joe. They were the perfect duo, and although everyone thought Joe was the funny one, I knew that Jack was the one with the wit that would come out of nowhere to crack everyone up. After about 15 or 20 years of not seeing him, I ran into him at Kroger one day. We picked right up with joking, gossiping and laughing. I loved the look on his face when he talked about you and the way he said "Sara." He would blush and smile that little smile as if he just couldn't believe his luck to have you. And you were lucky to have each other. You made him happy. You were soul-mates, and I know your loss is incomprehensible. My sympathies go out to you and to Jack's family. I recently lost my mother and a dear nephew. I can tell you that the grieving never stops. But it gets better and the best thing to do is remember all the awesome years you had together, all the fun you had, all the good times. The world was a better place because of Jack Rose, and we all were better people to have known him and called him friend.
