Alex made such a wonderful difference in my life through Young Life at Farragut. I recall all the meetings and the cave exploring, but especially the influence of Christ. He was truly a Godly man. Angie Jackson

Alec insured my very first car 50 years ago and remained my agent, added my husband, then added my daughter. He was our friend throughout. I am sorry for your loss and sorry for the loss to the world of so good and generous a man.

There are so many things I remember about Alec Woodhull. I don't know if it's because I met him when I was in high school and those years are so imprinted on our lives or what, but he, Patti, and Kristi S., all impacted my life in so many ways. He was my Young Life "Club" leader every Thursday night at FHS (OLD SCHOOL) from 1973 -1976 and he and Patti opened their homes to us kids for Campaigners on Monday nights for Bible Study. They took us to Windy Gap and Frontier and loved us well. He personally taught me a number of things, which I thought I would share a few of them: 1) Jesus' death on the cross was horrific (I still remember the details he gave on what a death on a cross was like) but that Jesus died for ME; 2) He taught me to get out of my comfort zone when he had me speak at Parents' Night my Senior year and play the piano at Christ Chapel when I was petrified; 3) He taught me that good theology could be found in the works of C.S. Lewis; 4) He showed us all that you could love your "Bride" even after you've been married umpteen years; and finally 5) that it's okay to sing praise to the Lord even if you couldn't carry a tune in a bucket!
He truly was salt and light and a caring person in a world that seemed scary and cruel sometimes. My condolences to Patti, Shelby, Lauren, and Kenny and the rest of the family.

I didn't know Alec too well when we were classmates at Coral Gables Sr. High, but am thrilled that my niece, Julie Moore, has been friends for many years and he has been a great spiritual mentor to her.

Patti, Sharon and I enjoyed our short time knowing Alex. He was truly a remarkable person and certainly was gifted in many ways. I am sure you take some consolation in the fact his faith was so strong and he was such an inspiration to so many.

Alec was not only our first insurance agent, but he and Pati also invested in our lives as a young couple through premarital counseling and their service at Christ Chapel. May God comfort the family in this time of loss. We thank God for the privilege of having Alec in our lives. With hope, Jamie Kent & Sandra Elizabeth Harrison

Mr. Woodhull was my neighbor for years when there were only 2 houses on our road. I babysat for his children and he was a thoroughly Good Man with unparalleled integrity. He lived in a way to serve as an example of a Godly life. He will be so missed.

Think of the many lives The Lord has reached through the willing hearts and obedient spirits of Alec & Pati Woodhull, ever-faithful partners---serving Their Lord & Saviour, Jesus Christ---consistently and tirelessly. Alec & Pati have both always believed that kids deserve, and need, to hear about Jesus, through God's Word, and "Winning the Right to be Heard" is ever-critical in the objective of "Sharing The Gospel with Kids... " Think of the former, present, and future YL Leaders who've been called to serve, witness, & teach The Truth through QUEST @ UTK...
Remembering faithful prayers, and long nights on your knees, Alec & Pati--- plus, all the organizing, the review of budgets & discussions of possible growth plans + new ways to send campers to YL camps---as well as all the pre-planning over multiple years of YL Banquets---which you two both hosted & attended---all your diligence and hard work---in Witness to The Saving Grace of Jesus! Sooooo many years of service 'to' and 'through' the Knoxville YL Committee...
The presence of Jesus in your life touched many hearts & impacted innumerable Young Lives, Alec. To God Be The Glory.
Thank you, Pati, for sharing your dear husband with so many families & kids!
Blessings & Love--- from Mary Jane, Malinda, Mary, & Martha Sharp

Jesus was the light of the world. Alex followed that example and was also a light in a dark world. What an example of discipleship he showed to us all.

I only met Alec last July, although I'd known Pati and Shelby for years. I knew, from them, he was an amazing man and gentle soul. I feel so blessed to have met him for on that day my visit with Pati and Alec touched my soul with God's Love in a way I have never known. He will be missed by many but his spirit, so filled with Christ's Love, will live on forever. What a legacy he leaves! May God reward him greatly for his steadfast faithfulness. May God comfort my sweet friend Pati and give her and all the family His Peace. I am so thankful to know Christian people like your family.

Alec and Pati were loving and kind Young Life leaders during the early 70's when I was a FHS student. They influenced me to follow Christ and my heart. I am a minister today in large part due to their investment of themselves in my life. Thank you Alec and Pati.

My wife and I are very saddened by the passing of Alec. We came to Knoxville in 1971 after graduation from Oklahoma State and Alec was our first insurance agent. It was the first time I had to buy insurance on my own (my father always did it before), and Alec was always wonderful to deal with. I always felt he was a very straightforward honest man and enjoyed our experiences with him immensely.

Thanking God for Alec's life of service to the Lord and the impact he had made to the world. I am greatly blessed by the story of his life through the obituary though I met him only once yet I met him in the life of his children: Lauren & Kelly and Doris & Kenny while working in the refugee camp in the Philippines in 1987. He left a long lasting legacy to these two wonderful couples by leaving his own footprints of life committed to the work of God. You'll forever live a life of "Young Life" Alec as you are with the Lord now. Love you in Christ, Ate Lina

A Titan of the Faith - the Lord imparted vast reservoirs of wisdom, encouragement, and perseverance into this man....and they were poured out on so many of us.... Alec walked beside my wife and I as we began our small business, encouraging us continually. His emphasis on demonstrating excellence in business as a way of glorifying God was continually reinforced with us over the years. God imparted an intellect into this man that could have been intimidating, but it was so perfectly balanced with the gift of patience and ability to listen to others. We are so grateful for his family and his son, Kenny, who works so closely with us. We are so humbled to have known this great saint and rejoice in the anticipation of seeing him again.
