David William Goodpasture, age 77, of Knoxville, a devoted follower of Jesus, husband, father, grandfather, and brother, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday morning, September 14, 2016. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Concord and the Faithful Followers Sunday School class. David was a professor at the University of Tennessee, in the College of Civil Engineering, for over 40 years. During his tenure at UT, Dr. Goodpasture compiled an impressive record of research, publications and teaching. He was an avid hiker, photographer, and traveler. More than anything he loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed and remembered by his genuine smile and cheerful words.

David was the son of the late John and Eula Goodpasture. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marion Goodpasture; sister, Jacquetta Weaver. David is survived by his children, Jackie Campbell and husband, Brian, Jenny Fogarty and husband, Steve, Will Goodpasture, and Joanna Toole and husband, Robbie; grandchildren, Becca, Ben, and John David Campbell, Jace and Seth Jenkins, and Molly Toole; sister, Margaret Hicks, of Roanoke, Virginia; niece and nephews, Paula Covey, John Weaver and wife, Jackie, Ernie Weaver and wife, Betty.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, at 4:00 p.m., in the Chapel of First Baptist Church, Concord, with Rev. Steve Peek officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Family and friends will gather on Monday, at 1:30 p.m., at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel to travel in procession to Highland Memorial Cemetery for a 2:00 p.m. interment service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The Special Needs Ministry Group Home Project, care of First Baptist Church, Concord, 11704 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37934.
