Glenn Siler McBee, age 90 of Knoxville, passed away unexpectedly at home, Saturday, June 17, 2017. As a member of the "Greatest Generation", Glenn joined the United States Army at age 18, and proudly served his country during World War ll, and for the next 22 years. He served on the Military Retirement Council at Fort Campbell for 26 years where he worked on both the Tri-Care for Life and the Wounded Warrior Projects. Glenn was an Accountant who opened his own business, and served the public for more than 30 years. He loved to travel, had wonderful sense of humor, and always put the interests and needs of others above his own. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, Esco and Clova McBee. Glenn is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Hildegard Schmidt McBee; sons: Robert (Kerry) McBee, Nashville, TN, Don McBee, Knoxville, TN, Fred (Elizabeth) McBee, Knoxville, TN, and Steve (Kimberly) McBee, Denver, NC; grandchildren: Christopher McBee, Denver, NC, Ryan (Kristen) McBee, Knoxville, TN, Emily McBee, Knoxville, TN, Nicholas (Ashley) McBee, Granbury, TX, and Tyler McBee, Knoxville, TN; great-grandchildren: Aryanna and Kasey McBee, Granbury, TX; sisters, Christine King, Silver Springs, MD and Vila Holliway, New Market, TN; sister-in-law, Hannelore Horner. The family will receive visitors Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Rose Mortuary – Mann Heritage Chapel, 6200 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. Funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m., Monday, June 26, 2017, at the Rotunda of the East Tennessee Veterans' Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919 with the Rev. Christopher Hogin officiating. Full Military Honors will be provided by the East Tennessee Veterans' Honor Guard. Interment will immediately follow at the Tennessee Veterans' Cemetery, 2200 Gov. John Sevier Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517.
