Franklin Kline

LAGRANGE — Franklin L. Kline, 79, of LaGrange died Wednesday, February 5, 2014, in Parkview LaGrange Hospital, LaGrange.
He had lived in the LaGrange area for 20 years, and prior to that at Sylvan Lake.
Franklin honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
His first job was as a dishwasher which he did for four years as a young boy. He was proud of the fact that he was able to use the monies he earned to help his family.
He retired in 1997 from the recreational and boat industry.
Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing and photography. In retirement, he enjoyed golfing and playing guitar at family gatherings.
He was born February 23, 1934, in Kendallville to Carl "Hap" and Lola Marie (Miller) Kline.
Surviving are a daughter, Ginny (Randy) Dickerhoof of Kendallville; a son, Jeffrey (Marcia) Kline of Kendallville; four stepdaughters, Florence McKinsey, Jacque Smith, Carrie Web and Geraldine Canfield; two stepsons, Elvin Williams and Ronald Williams; two sisters, Patricia (Russell) Scofield of Howe and Barbara Owsley of Wolcottville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his cat, Fanci; and family friend, Annie Radley of LaGrange.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dolores (Wilson) Kline; his second wife, Ola Fay (Napier) Kline; a son, Timothy W. Kline; a stepdaughter, Gail Williams; a sister, Josephine Becker; four brothers, Raymond Kline, Oscar Kline, Billy Kline and Carl Kline; and a great-granddaughter.
A celebration of life memorial service will be Sunday, February 9, 2014, at 4 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 S. State St., Kendallville.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 9, 2014, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Paralyzed Veterans of America or to any other veteran's organization of the donor's choice.
