Louis Hyde

GARRETT — Louis F. Hyde, 96, of Garrett died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Presence Sacred Heart Home in Avilla.
Mr. Hyde had worked as a maintenance supervisor at VA Hospital in Fort Wayne for 30 years, retiring in 1979.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Garrett, the Garrett American Legion and the Garrett Eagles.
Mr. Hyde was U.S. Navy veteran of WW II.
He was born Aug. 13, 1917 in Garrett to Walter L. and Anna M. (Byanskie) Hyde. He married Helen A. Iannetti on Jan. 11, 1944, in Bronx, N.Y., and she died May 5, 2005.
Surviving are two daughters, Margaret R. Hyde of Fort Wayne and Patricia (Jim) Duguid of Huntington; a son, Joseph (Lori) Hyde of Corunna; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Hyde of Garrett, IN; a son-in-law, Tod Kovara of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Norbert Muzzillo of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a daughter, Judy Kovara; a son, Richard Hyde; and two sisters, Catherine E. Hertzfeld and Mary Helen DeWitt.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Garrett, with Father Andrew Nazareth officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Garrett, with military graveside services by the U.S. Navy, Garrett American Legion and VFW.
Memorials are to St. Joseph Catholic School or Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home.
