FORT WAYNE — Thelma Ring, 81, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014, at Emeritus of Fort Wayne.
Born in Warsaw, Thelma earned a master's degree from St. Francis University. She was an RN for 50 years with multiple hospitals before retiring in 1990.
She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and the Critical Care Nursing Association.
Thelma enjoyed her Pepsi, shopping, crocheting, reading, playing cards, and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Richard (Alaina) Ring of Auburn, Sue (David) Garris of Fort Wayne, Kathryn Lynn Lanier of San Jose, Calif., Daniel (Linda) Ring of Dade City, Fla., and Timothy Ring of Los Angeles, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Laura Hathaway-Minter of Rockford, Ill., Mary Whisler of Bradenton, Fla., and June Kramer of Rochester.
Thelma was preceded in death by father, Carl Carrothers; her mother, Rhoda (Bacon) Brown; her, husband Richard O. Ring; a brother, Bill Carrothers; and two sisters, Lennis Wise and Gayle Hurst.
Service is at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2417 Getz Road, with calling one hour prior. The Rev Dr. Derek Weber will officiate.
Calling at will be at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Memorials may be made to the Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
