Allen Hullinger Obituary
He was born August 25, 1920 in Vivian, South Dakota, to the late Elmer and Ruth (Winchell) Hullinger.
Allen was a U.S. Army, World War II veteran. He worked at Crane Edmund in Butler and Dana Weatherhead in Angola before retiring in 1989. He was also a lifetime farmer.
He married Mary Ellen Reid on January 1, 1946 and she passed away May 1969. He then married Barbara (Warner) Wilkerson in 1972 and she survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Shirley Roose of Fort Wayne, Roberta (Dale) Parkison of St. Joe and Caryn (Don) Wilkerson-Shilling; a daughter-in-law, Amy Hullinger of Butler; eight grandchildren, Adam Parkison, Tyler Parkison, Brandon Parkison, Cayti Donovan, Erin Walters, Sam Hullinger, Jessica Hullinger and Jamie Stayer; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eldon (Virginia) Hullinger of Fort Wayne and Franklin Hullinger of Auburn; and two sisters-in-law, Clara Hullinger of Auburn and Annabelle Hullinger of Auburn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry Hullinger; three brothers, Harold "Pete" Hullinger, Vernon Hullinger and Donald Hullinger; and two sisters, Myrtle Henderson and Nila Ruth Hullinger.
A memorial service will be Sunday, January 3, 2016, at 6 p.m. at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 S. Center St., Auburn. The family will receive friends four hours prior to the service from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.

My family knew Al for a long time. He was into horses like us. My daughter remembers Al from when DeKalb county got a 4-H draft horse and pony club started. Al and my dad, Ron Ross used to haul livestock for a local hauler, together and separately. He was a good guy.

Very sorry to hear about Allen. He was a very fine man. He was the same as age as Clif Hullinger, his cousin and my father. Both men fought in Italy in World War II. Allen carried shrapnel in his arm from the war.
