GARRETT — William "Bill" "The Cookie Man" L. McNutt, 85, of Garrett died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

He was born Oct. 1, 1928, in Litchfield, Mich., to Lemon H. and Mary S. (Sponhauer) McNutt. He married Jeanette Fenstermaker on Nov. 7, 1949, in Angola, and she died Dec. 28, 2003.
Mr. McNutt was an Army veteran of both World War II and Korea. He worked at the A & P Grocery in Auburn from 1952-1965, Auburn Foundry 1965-1982 and Kendallville Foundry 1982-1990 as a purchasing agent. He was a member of the Garrett American Legion.
He is survived by his son, Terry McNutt of Garrett; two daughters in-law, Sharon McNutt of Garrett, and Lillie McNutt of Hueysville, Ky.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vada Starr of Plymouth, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette McNutt; parents, Lemon H. and Mary S. McNutt; two brothers, Carl McNutt and George McNutt; a son, Jeff McNutt; and a sister, Rose Marie DeVenter.
Calling will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Thomas Funeral Home, Garrett.
Services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Christian Union Cemetery, Garrett, with military graveside services by the U.S. Army, the Garrett American Legion and the Garrett VFW.
