Arloa Betassa Obituary

Arloa Marie Betassa, 92, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2012 at Mountain View Meadows Assisted Living Home. She was born on January 14, 1920 in Lebanon, Kansas to parents Milford and Millie Sealock. Arloa is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ernest Betassa of Ellensburg in 1998, and a son Wesley Betassa in 1947.

Arloa moved with her parents to the Kittitas Valley in April 1937. Shortly after, she graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1938 and married Ernest on November 18, 1939. Arloa and Ernest lived and farmed in the Woldale district where she enjoyed being a wife, homemaker, gardener, and mother of four children.

Arloa and Ernest retired and moved to Ellensburg in 1986. She participated in numerous community activities including the Woldale Thursday Club, Mother's Club, and the Scholarship Luncheon Group. She is likely best known among family and friends for her famous spaghetti bows, Rodeo gatherings, and interest in her family history.

Arloa is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Randy Schroers of Ellensburg; son, Steven Betassa of Ellensburg; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Laurie Betassa, and their daughter Andrea Betassa of Bellevue.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Ellensburg. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Kittitas Valley Community Hospital Foundation at 603 South Chestnut Street, Ellensburg, WA 98926.

Steward & Williams Tribute Center are in care of the funeral arrangements.
