Harley G. McFarland, 94, passed away on April 8, 2013 in Fountain Hills, AZ. He was born August 30, 1918 in Glendive, MT.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth E. McFarland, daughter, Karen J. Cleaver, sisters, Gloria Boatright and Leta Voris, brother, Arthur McFarland, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Harley graduated from Kittitas Union High School in Kittitas, WA as valedictorian on May 28, 1936. In December 1939 he went to Metropolitan Business College in Seattle, WA and graduated in 1940. He then began work at Frederick and Nelson Department store office in Seattle, WA. He met Faith Clark and they were married September 13, 1941.
He served in the Navy from August 1945 to March 1946 where he received a hardship discharge due to illness in the family. He worked for Serv-U Meat and West Coast Grocery. He served on the city council in Mountlake Terrace, WA from 1954 to 1960 with the last two years as Mayor. He was active in the Baptist Church serving on the church council and acting accountant. He privately owned his own income tax business and was active until his eighties. He was active in the Elks for many years.
He was dearly loved by all who knew him and will be sadly missed.

Services for Harley will be on Saturday, May 4, 2013, 2:00 PM, at the Kent First Baptist Church, 11420 S.E. 248th St., Kent, WA 98030. Reception following.
