Leladell (Pate) Abel(1913 - 2010)

Leladell Pate Abel passed away at the Kittitas Valley rehab center on February 5, 2010. Lela was born to Robert and Emma Rogg Pate on March 30 1913 in Dayton, WA. Her mother suffered a blood clot at the time of Lela's birth and was unable to care for her. Her father's sister, Della, took on the mother roll and did a fine job of raising Lela to adulthood. She married Ronald Abel in April of 1929 and three children were born of that union; son Robert (Betty), Wilbur, WA, son John (MJ) Yuma, AZ and daughter MaryLynn (Les) Warren of Ellensburg. Lela was a part of the banking community in Ellensburg for many years. She has the distinction of becoming the first female bank officer in the state of Washington for that bank. Upon her retirement, she and Ron spent six months of every year in Orangewood Shadows RV Park in Mesa, AZ. While there they took part in the many activities available to them and made many cherished friends. When "up north" they continued to travel and go camping with family and friends in this area. She greatly enjoyed the best of both worlds. Lela is survived by her three children and their spouses, her sister and her husband, Peggy and Don Wiltse of Eugene, OR, her brother-in-law Richard (Pat) Abel in Waitsburg, WA, eight grand children, ten great grand children and three great, great grandsons. She enjoyed times spent with her family more than anything else. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her beloved aunt Della, two daughters-in-law and many good friends. At her request, there will be no memorial, with graveside services for family at a later time.
