Pastor Rentfo Obituary

Pastor Dick Rentfro peacefully fell asleep in Jesus October 21, 2011. His life was a Godly life, a life well lived as he served his God. 'He fought a good fight, he kept the faith and he finished the course, therefore a crown of righteousness has been laid up for him, on that glorious day of Christ's appearing.' (II Timothy 4:7)
Dad put his confidence in God. He knew that after he died, he would live again. He knew he would be satisfied, when he awoke in the likeness of God and saw Him face to face." (Psalms 73:22-24)
He was a friend to God and a friend to his fellow man. He took our Lord's injunction, that we love one another, quite literally and to know Dick was to love him. He was a true friend, who could keep a confidence and rejoice with those who rejoiced and weep with those who weep.
Dad's life blessed others. He loved Kittitas County and he loved the people in it. He was often blessed visiting different denominational worship services. The love of Jesus flowed through him. He had a shepherd's heart and he was a true pastor's pastor. He has left a real legacy of faithfulness to all of us. "The footprints that he has left have led us to believe."
"God used his hands to touch the world around him.
God used his feet to go where He may lead.
God used his eyes to see the need in others.
God used his voice to tell of His return.
God used his love burning in the darkness.
God used his love shining in the night."
Dad was born in Kansas City, Kansas in 1920. At the age of 21, God called him to become a minister of Christ. He married his precious Rose in 1943 and they had two children, Rick and Connie.
After Rose's death in 1997, dad began prolifically writing for the Daily Record and other publications. He shared with his readers his personal triumphs as well as the tragedies in his life, the death of his Rose and his only son in 2008.
His survivors are his daughter, Connie Coleman and her husband, Ron Coleman, his daughter in-law, Nishu Rentfro and his two grandchildren,
Benjamin Richard Rentfro and Brianna Rose Rentfro, his grandson, Dr. Ron Coleman and his wife Holly and his great grandchild, Olivia Rose Coleman, his grandson, Paul Coleman and his wife Melisa Montgomery of Grand Terrace, California and his granddaughter, Kimberly Rentfro of London, England.
Our Monument – our family sentiment
"We do not build a monument
Of carved white marble for your sake
That only those who pass may read
And only those memorial make
Our lives must be a monument
We consecrate on your behalf
Our charity must carve your name
Our gentleness your epitaph
And may some fragment of your strength
By God's great mystery fall on us
That through these monuments of ours
May shine your mortality."
If dad could speak to you today, he would say, "Do not sorrow as other people sorrow, people that have no hope. Just keep looking at Jesus, my dear brothers and sisters in Christ." "Rejoice, your redemption draweth nigh!"
There will be viewing at Affordable Funeral Care 101 E 2nd Ave, today, October 27 and Friday, October 28. The funeral service will be Monday, October 31 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chestnut Street Baptist Church in Ellensburg.
Affordable Funeral Care is entrusted with arrangements.

I met Pastor Rentfro several years ago when I worked at the UPS store. He came in often, driving his little red Honda, to make copies of his newsletter. He always left us a copy after he purchased them. I stopped working there long ago, but still remember his kind conversation and mentions of his wife & family. He was a joy, he brought us many smiles. My sympathy goes to his family, and yet also my joy for his arrival in Heaven with Jesus, as well as a peaceful, painless passing.

Dear Connie and family:
Our deepest sympathy, you're in our thoughts and prayers. Remember how much your father was loved and respected in the Kittitas Valley. It was a pleasure to have know him so many years ago. Our children, Victor and Tammy have such fond memories of the Seventh Day Adventist School and Ronnie and your father. Remember the good times and the wonderful memories they will live on forever.
