Evelyn Helen Neufeld
Evelyn Helen Neufeld, 87, of Lewiston, ID, passed away December 10, 2013, at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, WA.
She was born to Ed and Helen Schillinger of Vida, MT, on April 15, 1926, in Circle, MT. She was raised on their farm, graduating from Circle High School in 1944. She then attended Billings Business College.
She returned to Vida and worked in her dad's Vida Cash Store during harvest season. After that, she worked in a jewelry store.
On June 17, 1952, she and Harvey Neufeld were married at Vida's St. Ann's Catholic Church. They resided in Wolf Point, MT where she worked at the county courthouse, and later was a secretary for a General Motors dealership.
In 1958 they relocated to Lewistown, MT, which became the birthplace of her daughters, Helen Claire (Neufeld) Wanechek and Mary Kay (Neufeld) Yuditsky. They moved to Lewiston, ID in 1965 where Harvey opened and managed Buttrey's Super Store.
Although her family is heartbroken, they are truly blessed with many, many wonderful memories of her. All milestones were joyfully celebrated, including the birth of her twin granddaughters, Mary Kay and Shelby Jo Wanechek, on April 22, 2004, (most surely the highlight of her entire life). Family vacations and special occasions were always favorite times, an extension of the immense value she placed on her family. Her family has tremendous gratitude for her love of them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lucille Loendorf; and her brothers, Kenneth and Walter.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Harvey; daughters, Helen Claire Wanechek and husband Larrin of Cle Elum, WA, and Mary Kay Yuditsky and husband Robert of Coeur d'Alene, ID; granddaughters, Mary Kay and Shelby Jo Wanechek of Cle Elum; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 18th at Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 19th at St. James Catholic Church, followed by burial at Normal Hill Cemetery. A lunch was served at the church immediately following the burial.
