Donald J. Fieldhouse, 81, of DeMotte, passed away on Thursday Aug. 1, at his residence. He was born Aug. 12, 1931, in Gary, to Sam and Susan (DeVries) Fieldhouse, both deceased. Donald was a graduate of the DeMotte High School, class of 1949. Don served with honor in the United States Coast Guard.
On June 30, 1955, he married Kathryn Joyce Hamstra at the First Reformed Church in DeMotte. Together they resided in DeMotte and raised four children. Don was an active member of the First Reformed Church of DeMotte, where he served as an Elder and Deacon, youth leader and enjoyed teaching Adult Sunday School.
Don served on the Words of Hope Board and the Christian Haven Board. He was a former member of the DeMotte Kankakee Valley Rotary Club. He also found time to serve on the DeMotte Town Board and as the DeMotte Police Commissioner. For 49 years, Don owned and operated the Fieldhouse Ford Dealership in DeMotte.
Donald is survived by his loving wife; Joyce, children, Larry (Betty) Fieldhouse, Naples, Fla.; David (Connie) Fieldhouse, DeMotte; Ronald (Rhonda) Fieldhouse, DeMotte; Karen (Kevin) Hamstra, DeMotte; brother, John (Karen) Fieldhouse, Naples, Fla.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother; James (Nettie) Fieldhouse.
Friends may call on Sunday Aug. 4, from 2-8 p.m., at Jackson Funeral Service in DeMotte. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 5, at 10:30 a.m., at First Reformed Church, DeMotte, with Rev. David Bast Officiating. The interment will follow at The Holland Cemetery, DeMotte, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to The Words of Hope.  Also see
