Lawrence S. Brenneman, 95, of Rensselaer passed away at the Jasper County Hospital AlternaCare on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013. Lawrence was born in Monon, Ind., on Sept. 25, 1917, the son of Samuel A. Brenneman and Ruth E. Pike Brenneman. In 1924, Lawrence moved to Rensselaer with his family and attended Rensselaer Schools.

Lawrence was married on May 17, 1941, in Hillsdale, Ind., to Ruby E. Hass, who passed away Aug. 13, 2008.
A veteran of the United States Navy, Lawrence was a member of the Seabees during World War II, serving in Europe and the Philippines.
He was employed for 33 years and retired as the Lumberyard Manager at Jasper County Farm Bureau Co-Op Building Supplies in Rensselaer.
Lawrence was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Rensselaer and the Rensselaer High School Building Trades. He was also a member of V.F.W. Post #1279 and American Legion Post #29, both of Rensselaer.
Surviving are his loving family, son, Robert Dale (wife Gail) Brenneman of Rensselaer; daughter, Mary Jeanne (husband Randy) Palmer of Valparaiso; six grandchildren, Aaron, Christopher, Ashley, Brandon, Courtney and Quentin, and five great-grandchildren.
Lawrence was preceded in death by one son (Larry), three sisters, his wife Ruby and his parents.
Friends may call at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church of Rensselaer on Thursday Sept. 12, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor John Hostetter officiating. Burial will follow at Roseland Cemetery, Francesville, Ind. Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church Endowment Fund.
