Beulah M. Ferguson, 95, of DeMotte and formerly of Wheatfield, passed away at 7:40 a.m., Monday, March 24, 2014, at the Autumn Hills Health and Rehab Center in DeMotte.

Beulah was born April 27, 1918, in Murphysboro, Ill., to Thomas M. Richards and Camilla (Schmeyller) Richards. Before retiring, she had worked in the janitorial department at the Kankakee Valley High School for 21 years.
Mrs. Ferguson had attended the Parr Baptist Churcch in Rensselaer. As a pastor's wife, she gave mission talks on Native Americans to the neighboring churches. She also like to sew.
Beulah married Rev. Charles Ferguson on Sept. 9, 1945, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on June 6, 2008.
She is survived by three children, Janet Chancy of Roselawn, Charles Ferguson (wife Theresa) of DeMotte, and Cheryl Ahmed (husband Amin Ahmed) of Oxford, Ala.; seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Homer Richards (wife Ruth Ann) of Murphysboro; and two sisters, Elsie DeVardo (husband Tom) of Marion, and Shirley Oetjen (husband Marvin) of Carterville.
She was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Larry Chancy; one grandson, Keith Chancy; two brothers, Bob Richards and Thomas Richards Jr.; and one sister, Ruby Fenton.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, March 28, at Pettett Funeral Home with burial at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Murphysboro. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. For more information, please visit http://www.pettittfuneralhome.com/.
