James R. "Larry" Ray, 77, of Ft. Myers, Fla., formerly of Louisville and New Haven, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, in Ft. Myers.
He was born June 4, 1935. He was the son of the late William Cooper and Mary Dorothy Medley Ray. He was a veteran of the United States Army
He is a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Ft. Myers. He was a graduate of the University of Louisville. He retired from Zeon Chemical Company where he worked as a chemical engineer for 30 years.
Survivors include his two sons, William J. "Bill" (Terri) of Memphis, Ind., and James L. Ray of Louisville; three daughters, Kim (Hollis) Smith of Louisville, Sandi (Chris) Streicher, of Goshen, and Terri (Alex) Reymundo, of Prospect; five sisters, Betty Johnson, of Louisville, Billie Joyce (Charlie) Alvey, of New Haven, June Carol (Jerry) Mahoney, of New Haven, Mary Ann (Bill) Cahoe, of Louisville, Dolly Ray, of Louisville; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Lizzy, Katie, Christopher, Alexandra, Christian, Michael, Adam and Walter; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven. The Rev. Troy Overton will be officiating. Burial will be in the St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church Cemetery in New Haven. A prayer service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5 in the chapel of the William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven. Deacon Eddie Hutchins will be officiating.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5 and from 8 a.m. until the time of services at the William R. Rust Funeral Home in Haven Haven.
