Joseph Arch Hutchins, Sr., 87 of Loretto, died Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.
He was born April 9, 1927, in Marion County. He was a retired employee of General Electric Appliance Park in Louisville with 37 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Marie Wheatley Hutchins; his parents, Emmett and Rose Newton Hutchins; a son, John Alvin Hutchins; two grandsons, Ricky and Joe David Humphrey; a son-in-law, Dean Bruner; a sister, Ruby Thomas; and two brothers, Jimmy and Leo Hutchins.
Survivors include nine daughters, Linda Bruner, Karan (Mike) Luckett, Denise Hayden and Terri Farmer, all of Loretto, Kathy (Tony) Pivot, of Boston, Vicki (Bill) Newton, of St. Francis, Deanna (Tom) Thornton, of Lebanon, Carol (Jimmy) Payton, of Turner Station, and Brenda Sue (Dale) Daugherty, of Raywick; two sons, Joseph Arch "Junie" Hutchins Jr., and Doug "Purple" (Lisa) Hutchins, both of Loretto; a daughter-in-law, Brenda (Albert) Johnson, of Lebanon; three sisters, Ann Leake, of Loretto, Rose (Jerry) Covert, of Leavenworth, Washington, and Nancy (Maurice) Westfall, of Nicholasville; a brother, Larry Hutchins (Betty), of Springfield; 35 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 6785 Highway 52, St. Francis, with burial to follow in Holy Cross cemetery. The Rev. James W. Graf will be the celebrant.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 6 p.m. by Bro. Robert Barr.
