Charles Fredrick "Fred" Bayliss (1919 - 2014)

Charles Fredrick ""Fred"" Bayliss, 95, of Rushsylvania, Ohio, died Monday, March 10, 2014, at Logan Acres Care Center with his family at his side.
He was a 1938 graduate of Rushsylvania High School.  He retired after 35 years as a general contractor and master finish carpenter and had built some of the most prominent homes in Logan County. He often commented, ""I always worked for the best people."" As a member of the Rushsylvania Church of Christ he had served as a deacon, elder and board member, and took an active interest in the Rushsylvania community in positions as a Rushcreek Township trustee, volunteer fireman, and village council.  For many years he had represented the Patrons Mutual Insurance Company as a property and casualty agent.
He was born Feb. 17, 1919, near Rushsylvania to the late Fred E. and Hazel Belle Jacobs Bayliss. He married Alice Lucille Dean on June 5, 1942, in Covington, Ky., and she preceded him in death on May 14, 2009. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Thurman Bayliss and Robert Bayliss, a sister, Ruth Terrill, and a granddaughter Jessica Robin Bayliss.
Survivors include four sons, Bill (JoAnn) Bayliss, of West Mansfield, John (Sharon) Bayliss, and Doug (Terri) Bayliss, both of Rushsylvania, Dan (Freida) Bayliss, of Bardstown; three daughters, Cindy (Randy) Johnson, of Weston; Jannice (Jeff) Hall, of East Liberty, and Beccy (Joe) Ramsey, of Ridgeway; 29 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Mary) Bayliss, of Dublin; a sister-in-law, Martha Bayliss, of Bellefontaine; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was 11 a.m. Friday, March 14, at Rushsylvania Church of Christ. Lynn Cleveland and grandsons-in-law, the Rev. David Smyth and Brad Snyder, officiated, and burial took place at Rushsylvania Cemetery Church of Christ. Memorial contributions may be made to Rushsylvania Church of Christ or Logan Acres Foundation in care of Mannasmith-Schnurrenberger Funeral Home, 222 W. Center St., West Mansfield, OH 43358 who is serving the family.
