Gail Auslander Zemon, of Louisville, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2013. She was born July 21, 1952, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. She was a 1970 graduate of Bardstown High School and a 1973 graduate of Indiana University with a degree in social work. Gail spent her career as an optician and in the jewelry business. She was the daughter of Lilo Behr Auslander and the late David D. Auslander of Bardstown, former owners of Behr's 5 & 10 in Bardstown.
Survivors include two children, Rachel Mather, MD, and Adam (Martha) Mather, BSN, RN; a grandson, Lewis; two brothers, Michael B. (Lee Ann) Auslander, DVM, Steve W. (Janine) Auslander , DMD; an aunt, Ellen Behr Bizer; several cousins including special cousin, Lynn Bizer (Gino) DeMarco; and nieces, Sheila Auslander (Imre Noth, MD), Alana (Jon) Auslander-Price and Marissa Auslander.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at Herman Meyer & Son, 1338 Ellison Ave., with burial in The Temple Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 1 p.m.
