Ivan Earl Hatfield, 94, of Bardstown, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Jewish Hospital. He was born Aug. 23, 1918, in Bullitt County. He served in World War II and retired as a self-employed painter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nina Hatfield; two brothers, Marion Hatfield and Gilbert Hatfield; and two sisters, Glendolyn French and Edith Walker.
Survivors include his loving wife and best friend, Beatrice Brinner, of Bardstown. They were married on Dec. 7, 1935. They enjoyed almost 78 years of marriage; a daughter, Mary Ann Johnson; and a son-in-law, he referred to as his son, Charles "Charlie" Johnson, of Bardstown; two granddaughters, Marcia Cammack and Charlotte Yeast; three great-grandchildren, Matthew Cammack, and Dustin and Kayla Yeast.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 25, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. The Rev. Darrell Goodlett will be officiating.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, and 8-10 a.m. Thursday, July 25, at Barlow Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may go to Disabled Veterans and Bethlehem High School.
