Kenneth "Johnny" Hale Jr., 80, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, March 11,2014, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.
Born August 25, 1933, in Washington County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Hale Sr. and Lois Ann West Hale and three brothers, Vance, Billy and Jimmy Hale.
He was a self-employed general contractor for many years, was the former chief of the Springfield Fire Department, former assistant chief of the Bardstown Fire Department and a Methodist. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Carol Selby Hale; three daughters, Terry Lynn (David) Hubbard, of Springfield, Kathy (Jeff) Ross, of Louisville, and Beth (Jay) Jordon, of Bardstown; a son, Michael Ryan, of Bardstown, five grandchildren, Jon Ryan, Seth Winstead, Jeremy Downs, Susie Kinniard and Katie Jordon; and six great-grandchildren.
A private funeral was Friday, March 14, at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield with the Rev. John Sanderson, pastor of Bardstown Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial was in Bardstown Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David White, Cliff Kinniard, Charlie, Joseph, Hunter and John Goatley.
Contributions are suggested to Springfield or Bardstown City Fire Departments.
