Bettye J. Hopson, 68, formerly of Bardstown, departed peacefully Wednesday, March 28, 2018, in Indianapolis. Bettye was the youngest child of Joseph Lee Livers Sr. and Anna Louise Livers, born May 2, 1949, in Bardstown. She graduated Bardstown High School and just attended her 50th class reunion.
She confessed her faith in Christ at First Virginia Avenue Baptist Church in Louisville and was also a member of First Baptist Church in Bardstown.
Bettye moved to Indianapolis where she raised her children and became an active member of Mount Paran Baptist Church for 25 years. She later became their financial secretary. After working 15 years for Kroger she retired and later became the financial secretary of United Methodist Church where she worked for 20 years.
Bettye had an avid love for history and historical places. She was a traveling connoisseur who traveled the U.S. and several countries around the world. She often said, "No matter what your lot in life may be; always build something on it."
Bettye was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Joseph Lee (Junie) Jr. and James Livers.
She is survived by her children, Curtis A., Tracey M., Stephanie Y., Margot S., Keith A., Latanya L., Morgan R. Jr.; her sister, Mildred (Livers) Richard, nieces, Phyllis (Greg) and Theresa Richard; a host of nephews, nieces, grandchildren, a great-grandchild, loving relatives and friends.
A celebration of life for Bettye J. Hopson was April 6, in Washington Park North Cemetery in Indianapolis.
