Charles Dustin Yankey, 37, of Elizabethtown, formerly of New Haven, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was born Sept. 19, 1980. He was an Army veteran serving 18-1/2 years before his medical retirement receiving several medals and citation awards and authorizations. He was a member of Bardstown Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Moore.
Survivors include two daughters, Shelby Elizabeth Yankey and Alexius Nicole Yankey, both of Boston; three sons, Charles James "C.J." Yankey and Jacob Hunter Yankey, both of Boston, and Daylin Yankey, of Lexington; his mother, Melinda Yankey, of Florida; a brother, Michael Metzler, of Florida; a sister, Amanda Metzler, of Florida; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In keeping with the deceased's wishes, he was cremated.
The funeral and the burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, in the Kentucky Veteran's Central Cemetery in Radcliff with full military rites. The Kentucky National Guard of Frankfort will conduct the service.
