Effie Evelyn Wilson, 88, of Cox's Creek, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, at the residence of her daughter in Shepherdsville. She was born July 11, 1929, in Edmonson County to the late Oakley and Lala Shrum Gillihan. Effie was a former employee of Best Western for more than 30 years in housekeeping. She enjoyed reading, quilting and crocheting. She was a member of Nelson County Christian Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wilson; and two sons, Steve and Ronnie Wilson.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie Hall, of Shepherdsville; two sons, Richard Wilson, of Cox's Creek, and Donnie Wilson, of Upton; two sisters, Barbara Sackett, of Bowling Green, and Pat Vaughn, of Franklin; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and seven great-great- grandchildren.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Mobley officiating. Interment will be in Bardstown Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, and after 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at the funeral home.
