Gonda Shirrel Thompson, 76, of Bardstown, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. She was born in Samuels on Aug. 23, 1941, to the late Owen Jefferson and Ilda Carleen Loveland Thurman. Gonda was a retired employee of American Greetings, loved watching Cincinnati Reds baseball and loved fishing. She was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Denton Thompson; two sisters, Kathleen Faulkner and Lina Hamilton; and two brothers, Jim Thurman and Larry Thurman.
She is survived by two daughters, Carlene (James) Greenwell and Crystal Sneed, both of Bardstown; a stepson, James (Tracy) Thompson, of Berea; three sisters, Carolyn Downs, Martha (Allen) Cahoe and Kathy Spalding, all of Bardstown; two brothers, Paul (Betty) Thurman and Joe Thurman, both of Bardstown; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Cremation was chosen by the family and a memorial prayer service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be noon Wednesday, June 20, until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, is in charge of arrangements.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. Always enjoyed chatting with Gonda when our paths crossed. She always had something to say, a smile on her face and a laugh to share. She will be missed.
