Jim "Coach" Waldorf, 90, of Bardstown, passed away Friday Sept. 29, 2017, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born July 22, 1927, in New Concord, Ohio. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a volunteer for more than 40 years at Bardstown High School coaching football and track, a volunteer for Bread For Life Food Bank, a member of Muskinghum "M" Club, Muskinghum Alumni Association, Bardstown High School Athletic Hall of Fame and Bardstown United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Todd Waldorf; his parents, Harry and Martha Waldorf; and a brother, Harry Bert Waldorf.
Survivors include seven children, Rebecca Mayes, of Bardstown, Marta Doyle, of Cincinnati, Jaime (Marc) Davis, of Pueblo, Colo., Christine Futch, of Bardstown, Beth Ann (Kevin) Cannon, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Matt Waldorf, of Hill City, S.D., and Timothy (Monica) Waldorf, of Bardstown; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, William Waldorf, of Catoosa, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at Bardstown Cemetery. The Rev. Phil Bradley will officiate. A celebration of his life will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at Barlow Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may go to Bread For Life Food Bank, Bardstown High School Athletic Fund, or Bardstown United Methodist Church.
