Michael Anthony Wathen, 31, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Norton Hospital in Louisville. He was born Oct. 20, 1981, in Bardstown, and was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Tony and Bernadette Wathen; maternal grandparents, William Earl and Annie Vernie Mattingly; and an uncle, Jackie Mattingly.
Survivors include his father, Pat (Teri) Wathen, of New Haven; his mother, Sandra Mattingly, of Bardstown; five siblings, Deanna Wathen, Tina Wathen, James Wathen, Paul Wathen, and Whitney Mattingly; and several loving relatives.
A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. The Rev. Ben Brown will officiate.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Friday, April 26, and 8-9:15 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service will be Friday evening.
Memorial contributions may go to Hazelwood Center, WHAS Crusade For Children – Special Olympics or St. Thomas Catholic Church – masses.
